Sunny's Goodtime Paint

How to Antique Furniture

Sunny's Aging Glazes can give your furniture a fantastic "aged" look that lends added character to any room. You can our aging glazes directly over a basecoat, or add 4 ounces of aging glaze to any of our colored glazes to create your own, colorful aging looks! Flat paint will absorb the aging patinas faster and will look more aged than those painted with eggshell or a higher sheen-so they're ideal for most furniture pieces.

Step 1: Collect Supplies

* sandpaper
* 2" natural bristle brush (or smaller for smaller furniture pieces)
* paint for base coat
* Sunny's Original Aging Glaze
* Poly acrylic or poly urethane top coat
* A rag or cotton cloth

Step 2: Prepare Furniture

* Sand the furniture to a smooth finish.
* Prime and paint your furniture with a latex base paint.

Step 3: Apply Glaze

* Brush aging glaze on and rub around for desired effect
* Leave more glaze on the piece to create an even older look
* If the piece has a lot of carving brush directly on the carving, then wipe off of the raised features for a great effect.
* Allow to dry, then top coat the piece with a poly acrylic or poly urethane.
